can a shellfish allergy start later in life or is it something you are born with? i might just have the flu....except i broke out in a red hot itchy skin attack again. my skin felt on fire and hard very red. temporary sunburn. started at the back of my neck and moved all over my body. i though maybe a panic attack. but then i threw up like Linda Blair. if it's just the flu i don't want to goto the clinic and get everyone sick too. should i be worried of a shellfish allergy? i ate shrimp a lot of shrimp.
What's the difference flu or shellfish allergy?
yes an allergy can start at any time. But you should go to the doctor if the symptoms are still there. There are some bacterial infections that release toxins that can have that effect on your skin and it can gets worse as time goes on. There also could have been a toxin of some kind in the shrimp, and thats what you reacted to, not the shrimp itself. But either way you should go to the doctor. If it is a shellfish allergy, the next time you come into contact with shellfish it could be much worse reaction and cause a true medical emergency. Get an allergy test.
Reply:I've never heard of it, but I suppose it's possible. I think if it were me, I'd give up shellfish.
