I generally feel very tired no matter how much sleep I have (usually 8 hours). Fairly recently I have been needing to drink large amounts of water and I always feel thirsty, and I very often feel the need to urinate. My mother's father has very bad diabetes, he has to jab before every meal and has been in hospital with bad circulation in his foot.
I did check a list of symptoms and great thirst, but not much hunger, do have frequent urge to urinate, don't have sores or bruises, not particularly itchy skin, no unexplained weight loss but I do have an underweight BMI and I find it hard to put on any weight. I do sometimes have blurry vision, do have tiredness, and don't have gum disease. I also frequently get dizzy on standing up if that's related. I am a white male age 15. I do not exercise a great deal.
What explanations could there be? I will probably see a doctor soonish, but I'd like your suggestions.
Thanks
Might I have diabetes?
Please go to your Dr. more than soonish...like in the next day or two. It sounds like you may have diabetes however only he can diagnose you. It could be something else. It sounds a lot like the symptoms i had. I was 10 and would drink a ton of water with no luck of it quinching my thirst and my mom counting me going to the bathroom 11 times in 1 hour. i had also lost 15 pounds in three days though we never noticed it, but the Dr. weighed me and i had. The sooner you catch diabetes the better. Because we caught so early i only spent 3 days in the hospital and was fine. Please go in tomorrow at the latest, or go to the ER if your Dr. cant get you it. its a simple blood and urine test that takes no longer than 15 minutes. The sooner the better dear.
Reply:I agree you are too young to let yourself get diabetis. Get your parents to take you to the Dr and get put on a special diet and start an exercise program...
Take care.

Reply:due to the hereditary tendency of diabetes, you could have the ailment. the only sure way to dianose diabetes is to go see a doctor and take an FBS or a Fasting Blood Sugar, an OGTT or Oral Glucose tolerance test, or a Casual plasma glucose level. but before you take the test, go see an endocrinologist so that s/he can assess you're relative risk for the disease....
Reply:sounds like it isn't diabetes yet, you could be insulin resistance, it is like pre-diabets.
But the only way to slow down or even stop the process is to talk to your doctor. You will need a blood test for an accurate diagnosis, but he will be able to advise you.
Even if the fear of diabetes doesn't prompt you to see a doctor, don't you want to feel better, live life to its fullest.
