I have a lump in the right side of the inguinal area, I have had it for four months but I have failed to do anything due to lack of health insurance. It feels like a pea underneath my skin. I looked it up and along with my night sweats, weight loss, itchy skin and chronic fatigue it all points to possible lymphoma. I haven't had health insurance in a while so I don't have a Primary Care Phsyician, but my insurance just went through last week so I was going to find one on Monday. My question is- With these symptoms is it credible to go to the ER and hopefully have the testing done immediately, or do I need to wait until next week to be seen by a PCP? Please be kind in your answers :)
ER or wait till Monday?
Honestly, I wouldn't panic if I were you--the internet is a curse and a blessing as far the 'self diagnoses' thing goes, and it can steer you in the way wrong direction. I often get ingrown hairs/lymph nodes in that area that were deemed completley benign by my doctor--swollen lymph nodes are very common in that area, even somthing as simple as shaving can cause them--just make an appt. w/ your doctor next week and hopefully he will set your mind at ease.
Reply:At this point you may as well wait till Monday, because the ER would probably refer you to a PCP or specialist then anyway.
But, shame on you for not having it checked out before! I realize you didn't have insurance, but this is your life and health we're talking about here!
Reply:It's probably not an emergency emergency, but I would get it checked out. It could be nothing, but it could indicative of a more serious problem, and catching it early could really help you.
I had that this summer, and the doctor said it may have come from all the chigger and tick bites I had. He gave me antibiotics and it went away.
Reply:Hope you've already received answers to your questions, but in case you haven't, what you are currently dealing with does not merit the term "emergency" as it is not life threatening or something that requires immediate attention. It does deserve more research and your symptoms need to be evaluated. Don't stress, though, it will not change the outcome and, in most situations, it is something quite harmless compared to all those diseases we can find when researching on the internet. Best of luck to you .. if you feel like sharing, please let me know what you find out. Take care ...
