Is there such a condition were you cant metabolize vitamin A or the enzyme for digestion is missing.?

my friend has longstanding health problems and doc. cant find out what is wrong. She gets burning tongue, itchy skin, at times skin looks yellow, and feels sick a lot, especially after eating carrots or foods high in vitamin A. Is there any condition where not being able to digest vit A is a possibility,...? She gets quite unwell at times and sleepy......please help..?

She should see a Endocrinologist. There are several medical conditions which can cause absorption problems.

This can become serious and even lead to ulcers and/or seizures.
Reply:your friend has something wrong with her liver as evident by the itchy skin, yellow appearance, and fatigue.

As far as vit. A, she would notice visual problems I would think

she needs to see her doc
Reply:Vitamin A can be toxic....that would be my guess, she needs to lay off the Vitamin A for awhile and see if her symptoms clear up.
