Hello
Ok, about 2 years ago I had unprotected sex with someone whom Im not sure did or didnt have HIV/AIDS. I know from research that it is possible to have HIV for up to 6 months before you can get an "accurate" test, otherwise any time sooner it is likely to have a "false negative" result. So about exactly a year and 1/2 later I started freaking out about some symptoms I had been having. Which were headaches, itchy skin, fatigue and muscle aches. So after getting depressed and making myself more sick my bf took me to get an STD and HIV test. All results came back negative. Now I KNOW after a year and a 1/2 that there should be no possible way to have a false negative. So I stopped worrying and my symptoms had seemed to go away (from relief I asume) , Now after that a friend whom always seems sick had used my chapstick, so 6 months later (present time) here I am again worried that my chance of having HIV are back. I have read all possibly ways to contract HIV and i know its only ..
HIV/AIDS Question?
First of all contracting HIV after using chap stick would be very difficult. The virus does live in blood however unless you had just used the chap stick and had bled onto it then it was immediately transferred the odds of infection are extremely low. Even if you were taking care of a patient with HIV and you accidental stuck yourself with the same needle the odds of contracting HIV are a mere 200 to 1 which are relatively good odds. The illness you are describing can be related to mere fatigue, stress, or possibly even seasonal cold viruses going around. With a negative test a year and half after the last unprotected sex with a client makes your odds of having HIV slim to absolutely none. You also do not appear to fall into the high risk categories which require a large range of sexual partners, Injectable drug use, and men having sex with other men. Rest your fears some as you really have the most of minute chances of being infected with HIV.
Reply:the only way you could catch it is if ur friend had a cut on their lips n u used it with a cut on urs. the virus dies when its outside of a person though. if ur so scared, stop sharing ur personal things and use condoms n go talk to a health professional to get ALL the facts k?
Reply:Stop worrying and just go see a Dr and get an HIV test. Tell them your fears and they should be able to set your straight. If you read too much into symptoms you could think you have everything (Med Student Disease).
Reply:We just spoke about Aids in class, Yes you can get them through sexual intercourse, oral intercourse, blood to blood contact at the moment they still have not been successful in getting accurate results back on mouth to mouth contact. But I think most of what you are saying is in your head. I think you are so afraid of getting it, that you are acting like you already have it. Calm down and when you are better go get it checked out, mean while if you think you have it, there are some pre aid shots you can take in those 6 months while you wait to get a real result back.
Reply:you have an insight to what is happening to you, you know it. you dont get it from sharing chap stick. best bet--always use a condom.
