What can I use to moisturize my tea cup chihuahua?

My chihuahua has really dry, flaky, itchy skin. Is there anything I can put on her and not worry about her getting sick from licking it?

What can I use to moisturize my tea cup chihuahua?
My Vet recommended HyLyt Bath Oil. You can get it from the vet or PetsMart. He said to work it into the dog's coat and skin. It has natural moistizer in it... and smells good too. My dogs have never gotten sick or attempted to lick it... but all dogs are diferent.
Reply:The only way to be sure is to ask your vet.
Reply:No. You have a tiny dog, so tiny amounts of anything could be potentially toxic, even if it isn't with most other dogs.

I'd say.... Feed a better diet.

Raw is best, next canned, then kibble. If feeding canned or kibble, make sure it is grain free. Grains cause all kinds of skin problems. google: dog + food + grain free

Evo and Nature's Variety both make grain free. If it is canned, make sure it is at least 95% meat.

Okay... You can also get some Omega 3's into your dog via Salmon Oil. That helps with skin/coat.

Kronch sold through www.sitstay.com is a good brand. Timberwolf Organics sells another good brand.

Good luck.
Reply:Sighhhhh...there is no such thing as a teacup or mini chihuahua..that being said, check the food, I use California Natural for my chihuahuas.

Try hypoallergenic shampoo also..there are a few out there that help with dry skin. Wouldn't put any lotion on unless directed by the vet.
