White spots on back of throat......a little advice????

I am 19 years old and I am a hypochondriac. I suffer from a phobia of HIV. I am also a sufferer of sinuses/allergies.

I am a virgin, saving myself for marriage, I am NOT an IV drug user and my parents are completely healthy. I have no apparent or possible way of retrieving/contracting HIV but I am suffering from a terrible fear. I have taken 5 tests in the past year. I just got the 5th result back yesterday and ALL have come back negative and perfectly ok.

Soooo, my question is...what are the white spots on the back of my throat from???

I don't go around kissing everyone. Just one person and I have been with him for 3 years.

Also, I have really itchy skin, but I think it may be from some anxiety that I am having problems with about these spots on my throat. And also, whenever I swallow, it feels really awkward. It isn't an ache or anything, it feel like something is stuck back there and I have white spots!! SOME ONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS....PLEASE!!!

White spots on back of throat......a little advice????
You have anxiety and possibly strep throat. Or some other bacterial infection.
Reply:do you still have your tonsils, just gargle with listerine a couple times a day and it will kill any bacteria that may be having your throat sore.
Reply:It is an infection, nothing to serious just gargle salt water and stop over reacting. The chances of a person getting HIV who does not participate in sexual intercourse are very slim, you have a better chance of dying in a car accident or getting shot.
Reply:You have "tonsilliths" or "tonsil stones". They form in the spaces or caves inside your tonsils. They are formed of bacteria and skin cells and quite foul-smelling. They are not infectious and you didn't get them from any physical contact. They are quite common and form on their own. Unfortunately, they can be a source of really bad breath if not cleaned out.
Reply:yeah, the white spots are Tonsilitis. No big deal.

With your lifestyle, you are NOT GOING TO GET AIDS.

Please Please Please stop worring abou it.

I suppose we got our over sensitive culture to thank for people who shouldn't be worried about HIV ending up with anxiety over it. If you're not a sexual active gay man or a drug user... relax.

Itchy skin... happens. It's probably dry?
Reply:woo hoo!! you and I are in the same boat tonight!! we both have Strep throat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

see the doc for an antibiotic and reassurance! You're fine, and so am I
Reply:Sounds like you have or have had tonsillitis recently, especially since you feel like you have lumps in your throat which is indicative of swollen tonsils. Your doctor can take a look at you and may prescribe some antibiotics. Seems like you are worried about HIV and were probably concerned that you had a yeast infection of the throat that can often be an early sympton of AIDS, but in that case you would have a thick white coating of the throat, mouth and tongue. It is not especially easy to catch HIV-you must either have unprotected sex or use dirty needles. You cannot catch it from kissing or other benign activities such as that. However, once you become sexually active i suggest you continue getting tested regularly, but you really dont need to do so more than every 6 months.

Reply:that happened to me too but mine was just food or for you it could be puss :P. You may just have strep throat or tonsillitis, but maybe you just have food cought in your throat. That happens to everyone and yes they are usally white. Don't worry just gargle and wait it out it should come out soon. For me it took a week or so, but if you are that paranoid about it go to a doctor. But there are like more then 2 or 3 SEE A DOCTOR! [ it isn't an emergency he will prob put you on like anibiotics maybe??] but don't take it unless your doctor says it is ok

don't worry for me when i think i am choking on food i think my hand is going numb... but it isn't i just get REALLY paranoid and believe it is, so it is.

It could be sinus allergies too, but not likely. [ i have really bad allergies too %26amp; it is so bad i can barely breath outta my nose] but this is the season to get a scratchy throat. SO DON'T WORRY =]

but just to be safe i would see a doctor =]
Reply:see an ENT (ear nose throat) dr. If you have post nasal drip it could be causing bacteria in your throat. But, it sounds like a normal sore throat to me or like another poster put tonsiloth(sp?) and the description is the same I read.

What is your intense fear of HIV (besides the obvious, I mean)

if you are not a drug user and you're a virgin? I realize you say your hypochondriac - so I guess that's the reason but I didn't realize hypochondriacs actually target a specific disease? well, hopefully you and your throat gets better!
Reply:Sounds like you probably have a yeast infection. I think if you have tonsilitus it would hurt you. As tonsilitus is painful.

You say your skin is itchy an that is a sign of yeast.

Come right off sugar and all pastries and sodas, as these things feed yeast.

Now you could get some Aloe Vera Juice at a health food store as it is a great healer, and also Coconut Oil.

If you want to have articles on these two email me at a different email address if you have one as these articles are too lengthy for the yahoo space, and mail it to newbegin@shaw.ca and put as your subject which ever one you want.
Reply:have urself examined by physician regarding the white spots on back of your throat. also try to dissolve 1 tbsp of salt in a glass of water and used it as often possible to rinse your mouth.

i had a similar problem, when i was stressed out reviewing for board exam. try to relax, and divert your attention to other things just to get your mind off your throat.
Reply:Iv'e had this! And believe me its not fun. When I lived at home I got strep throat alot. But one time it was worse then normal. I noticed white bumps...like yours on the back of my throat. I went to see a doctor and he said I had some kinda tonsilitis. (he has a big name for it). So he gave me a drug called Cyndamicin (which I realized later I am allergic to) ANYWAY the white bumps were balls of Puss! ewww All I had to do was take the pills and let them drain..it was sooo gross!

So go see a doc and get some pills! GoodLuck
Reply:Could be Strep throat or thrush, both are totally curable, just go see you doctor. And calm down.
Reply:My husband had the same symptoms and this resulted in him having GLANDULAR FEVER , please get yourself checked out asap.
