Swollen Lymph Nodes For Almost A Year?

I have several swollen lymph nodes on my neck that have been swollen for almost a year it seems. Maybe there not swollen. There all about 1 cm wide and long. One of them is about 2 cm long and wide. A couple of them have gone and came back. I have been to the doctor probably 7 or 8 times for these in the past year and all of the doctors either prescribed me antibiotics that I took and kinda helped or said I was fine. Blood counts come back normal. I have allergy problems and smoke about a pack a day. I have trouble breathing through my nose because it is always stuffed. I am not losing wieght. Actually gained 10 to 15 pounds. No trouble breathing, no itchy skin, have had one or two night sweats but think its because room was hot. Not drenching just a little sweating. Main question. Do you think I should be concerned with Cancer? Or do you think I just have a lot of junk going on with me and my lymph nodes are cleaning it out. I smoke weed every once and a while.

I've had a swollen lymph node on my neck for a few months now. It's very small, but I'm still a little worried. I don't drink much or smoke. A nurse looked at it and said it was nothing to worry about; and my blood counts are fine too.





Personally, I feel like it could be due to stress. I hope that it's nothing more.





I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet. Get more tests done if it bothers you, but I wouldn't worry too much until then.

Reply:You have obviously looked into this since you wrote that you do not have the symptoms that are most common in lymphomas. If you have actually gained weight, have no itching, not real night sweats, no fatigue, and most importantly normal blood counts, then it sounds like it is not lymphoma. It also doesn't sound like your lymph nodes are swollen, since normal nodes are about 1cm. Swollen, painless nodes are much larger. Mine were over an inch when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and I could pinch and press on them and they were not sore. Lymph nodes that are fighting infections will be sore and swollen. Allergies can cause lymph nodes to swell as the body fights off what it thinks is an intruder. Talk to your doctor about your allergies, and take his/her advice when he/she talks to you about quitting smoking.
Reply:I have to agree with smiling 28. I am also a Hodgkin's lymphoma survivor. I had one in my neck that seemed as big as a cell phone sometimes. It was painless. I didn't get night sweats immediately. if your blood count is normal, and the doctors don't seem to think anything is wrong you can insist on a fine needle biopsy. That is when they stick a needle in to the node and collect fluid and tissue. Don't worry it doesn't hurt anymore than a normal needle, although a bit intimidating. did they test you for Mono?
