2 year old with eczema like skim?

My son is 30 months old and has red,dry itchy skin, much like eczema on the backs of his arms, legs and around his shoulders. We have been applying hydrocortisone cream for about 3 months which does not appear to be working. Are there any other creams available which have been tried by yourselves which you can suggest?

2 year old with eczema like skim?
Hi, were in this situation too with our 31 month old daughter, we use Efcortelan and thats BRILLIANT

We also use Dermol in her bath

We wash all her bedding about 3 times a week on a 60 degree wash as that kills the dustmites etc

Other than that theres not much you can do, oh and we also had to change her shampoo as that was also making it worse

SORRY just realised Efcortelan is Hydrocortisone!!!!

It works for our daughter where as the actual dermol cream didnt but is fine in her bath, also holland and barrat do a very good cream for eczmea which i think is around £5-£7 a tube
Reply:next time, please buy an expensive pampers.....it will works...
Reply:Most babies grow out eczema on their own. Don't overuse cortisone creams: they do carry side-effects. Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) is excellent moisturizer, and it's neutral, too. I don't recommend you should use any medication on your baby unless absolutely necessary. In this case go for something natural; my suggestion : herbal cream/spray combo from http://www.champori.com It worked for me better than anything else I tried.

Best,

Bernadette
Reply:I suffer with psoriosis and have done for the last 10 years, 12 months ago my body was 70% covered in dry scaley itchy nasty skin I was that down about it and fed of of people staring at me like I was some sort of freak I didn't even like to leave the house

I have tried every cream imaginable from diprobase, eumovate, dithranol, dovenex, calcipotral I even had light treatment at the hospital for it, you name it and I've most likely tried it it was a nighmare. Then I found out about a company called Forever Living Products they are the world leaders in Aloe Vera and Beehive products and they are fantastic.

I started to drink 30ml of Aloe Vera Gel every day (it doesn't taste very nice but I just down it like a sambucca!) for a child I would give The Aloe Bits 'n' Peaches my sonloves it! and apply Aloe Vera Gelly and Aloe Propolis cream to my skin and now you wouldn't know I suffered with psriosis at all, I mean don't get me wrong I do still get the odd patch now and then on my knees or elbows but nothing like I've had it in the past.

Forever are that confident about their products that they offer a 60 day satisfaction guarantee so you have nothing to loose by giving it a go it will cost you about £1 per day but believe me it is well worth every penny, you can buy it from

www.foreverbeealoe.com

Hope you get rid of it soon.
Reply:Don't use soap, or any perfumed products, on him. For washing/bathing, use TEPID water, with EPADERM instead of soap. It will moisten his skin.

Then you could use CETRABEN emollient, and PROTOPIC 1% ointment, to soothe and treat the Eczema. All of these items are available on prescription.

DON'T use talcum powder, baby wipes or lotion. DON'T use perfumed soap powder. (SURCARE liquid is better)
Reply:I have a few standard suggestions.

Here is a list of do's and don'ts that I hope you will find helpful.

Things not to do:-

Don't use biological powders

Don't use fabric softeners

Don't use soap or detergents to wash with

Don't use standard shower gels or bath additives

Things to do :-

Try Fairy Snow -the old fashioned powder

Use dryer balls

Use a soap free cleanser to wash hands etc.

Use a moisturising shower gel like Oilatum

Use a moisture bath additive like Aveeno

Use a good moisturiser like Aveeno

Use it very frequently, you can't over-moisturise!

Use an appropriate antihistamine for itch, especially at night.

You may need to use steroids creams/ointments for flare up areas. Use the mildest you can, and for the face never more than 1% hydrocortisone, for the shortest time possible.

Sorry if you knew all of that already :-(
