Itchy belly, itchy boobs, itchy itchy itchy!!?

i'm currently 17 weeks pregnant with my first child and in the last two weeks i've been experiencing an itchy belly and itchy breasts - ONLY when wearing a bra and pants. i am currently not wearing new clothes nor have any irritation or allergic reaction to anything washed in the clothes. i'm wondering, however, if it may be that i'm due for some maternity clothes and that perhaps the itchiness is being caused by the tightness. and just to add, i'm not sweating in these areas nor am i dry skinned. everything's pretty normal. i've used lotions too but they don't really help the situation. any suggestions and most importantly, reasons why this may be happening? i'm sure one of you will tell me that an itchy belly is normal, but i'm not showing just yet.

Itching is normal. I am 30 weeks pregnant and still itch! The doctor told me that it's due to the skin stretching and such...exciting I know! haha

Reply:I would contact your doctor and explain to them what you're feeling. I can't remember what it's called but excessive itching in pregnancy can be a sign of a possible liver problem or something. I'm sorry to be so vague but I remember reading about it.

Reply:Probably you developed a sensitivity to certain kinds of fabrics like me. I am 33 weeks in my pregnancy, I was itching all over. My husband co-worker told me to switch to everything 100% cotton and avoid certain foods such as oranges and tomatoes (allergy triggers), then I got rid of my itch. Now a days I still itch a little wearing some undergarments that are not 100% cotton, its very hard to find 100% cotton undergarments usually the closest is 95% cotton mixed with spandex. Polyester is the worst material ... major itchy contributor....
